My goal as an educator is to cultivate the knowledge, skills and attitudes that stimulate a love for learning and an understanding of who we are and why we learn. These ideas are centered around teaching by modeling. I am consistently learning new ways to think, new topics to fill my educational gaps and new techniques to problem solving. Demonstrating how to overcome challenges shows students that I am also a student and this encourages students to develop a positive disposition about our learning together.
To foster this style of learning, it is imperative to use knowledge from multiple disciplines. Our world has problems to which do not have solutions. Being able to transfer knowledge from different subject areas creates the divergent thinking required to solve the worlds’ issues. Modeling this through being vulnerable and willing to keep trying new things will help foster student growth.
My goals are to:
All members of the school community are diverse and this diversity should be embraced. Personalized education is what is needed to aid this diversity to take the next step. As Malcolm Gladwell once said, ‘there is not a perfect pickle, but perfect pickles,’ for there is not just one perfect way to teach and learn, but perfect ways to teach and learn. In this fashion my belief is that the actions of education should be complementary between the teacher and student.

My goals are to:
- create an environment that is safe and engaging for all cultures and skill levels.
- learn with students in order to cultivate a positive disposition about their learning.
- gather and provide meaningful and personalized feedback to provide all involved the opportunity to grow.
- explore problems with divergent thinking and the acknowledgment that we can learn from failure.
- continually grow and have the confidence to try new ideas.
