Education and Leadership
My beliefs in education and leadership have been molded by my experiences in many different roles as both a team leader and a team member. My efforts to model hard work and cooperation transcend all of my ideas on leadership detailed below.
I believe building relationships is at the heart of education and leadership.
Relationships are the cause of and reason for the development which happens in the school community. Leaders need to value and work on these relationships.
I believe decisions should focus on the development of students.
When making decisions that impact any part of the school community, student achievement needs to be the top priority. This goal should always be the driving force behind improvement and change in and out of the classroom.
I believe transfer is the avenue to expand learning.
Innovation should be ongoing in order to extend learning in and out of the classroom. The focus should be on creating new methods of constructing meaning and facilitating learning through real life transfer.
I believe shared leadership is a vehicle for staff and student development and a method to foster innovation.
Ownership in the school community is essential to true engagement and is a way to encourage growth and innovation. Sharing leadership fosters community through trust and respect.
I believe global-mindedness is important in all aspects of the school community.
From curriculum to school events, respect for diversity is modeled in a purposeful manner. This fosters all members of the community to embrace different cultures and promotes kindness at all levels of the school.
